A note from the Master...

Brethren: The first quarter of the year is behind us and it was a good one. I am looking forward to an even more impressive and productive rest of the year for 2011. The first few month of this year were exciting and we were extremely busy at WG Hill. We initiated four new brethren, revamped our web site, conducted a pot luck dinner for families and hosted our annual Easter Egg Hunt, to just mention a few things. At this year's Easter Egg Hunt we invited Hiram 40 and Raleigh 500 to participate. Although we had heavy rains later that day the rain stayed away until after the hunt. In total we had 25 children running around the grounds of the lodge and eating hotdogs. I believe with better weather we would have had over 100. This events seems to be catching on.

Masonry is going strong and WG Hill is no exception. We recently raised 2 new Master Masons. We also have 2 new Fellow Craft and several petitions on the way.  With our membership holding steady, we are still challenged to grow the lodge's active membership and meet our goals.  WG Hill 218 made their charity goals for 2010 and we are working to meet our goal this year of $2500 each to Whitestone and the Oxford Home for Children.   We have switched gears a little and are working more to setting up a fundraiser as a way to keep every member involved.   It's working!  I look forward to seeing you and your families at these future events.

I am truly thankful and honored to be the current Master of WG Hill 218.  I have said before that many great men have sat in that chair in the East and I am humbled and honored to be a part of them and this Fraternity.

Fraternally,

Patrick Lawson
